Thursday Favorite Things -- Royal Wedding edition

the scene at Casa Bower

Fascinator Hats. I plan on making one to wear to watch the wedding coverage.

Yup. Yummy

The Royal Family. Yep.

I want to go to there.

I am very "into" these books. I have even re-read them.

{I am in on the joke. I realize that my nerdiness knows no boundaries. I am ok with that}

The last Royal Wedding {Princess Anne's son, Peter Phillips} took place the same day as Tony and my wedding.

This will happen tomorrow.

This past weekend was our 5th (!) Annual Peek-A-Boo weekend! Now, you may be asking yourself, what the heck is Peek-A-Boo weekend? Let me enlighten you.

5 years ago, my mom, aunts, and cousins on my mom's side of the family {Olbrich Clan, what? what?!} got together at our townhouse for a fun weekend of holiday shopping. We went to the outlet mall in Williamsburg for a very long, but fun day. There were cocktails, shopping, dinners, and general good times. We had so much fun we decided that it should be a yearly event.

We have had friends join in the festivities, we have alternated hosting duties between myself and AJ in Des Moines, Minneapolis, and DC, and we have shopped. We don't cook, we drink adult beverages, and we laugh. A lot. We dance in our PJ's to good music, usually break out cheerleading moves {some are better than others} and giggle. A lot.

my mom can still do the splits, and I still cannot do a cartwheel.

Pregnant Peek-a-Boo! I was about 6-7 weeks along with Avery

From the "Mini-Peek-a-Boo" with Lori and Maggie joining us from California! They were in town, so we broke the rules and had 2 Peek-a-Boo's in one year. Well worth it!

Because this still makes me laugh
 There is so much more to Peek-a-Boo, but we keep that secret. We Peek-a-Boo, do you?

Happy Easter

We hope everyone had a happy Easter. We were able to spend the weekend with family {more on that later}. Here is a shot of Avery in her Easter outfit {thanks Kelli!}

I will be back with more about our weekend.

Thursday Favorite Things

Some things I am loving these days

I put this on my windowsill above my kitchen sink. It is a good reminder to relax, and let the house be messy. Ignore the bathroom that needs a scrub, and to let the dog hair sit there. Our house is like me, a work in progress.

I am obsessed with bulletin boards lately. I have a fabric covered one in our dining room to hang pictures, family notes, invitations, etc. I just made one for Avery with some cute fabric as well.

I just bought this fabric to play around with. I have a bulletin board covered with it for Avery's room, and plans to make a pillow as well.

Because I just finished the 5th and final season of Friday Night Lights. {it was awesome!}

I love these boots. I want to go buy another pair to have on hand when my current pair dies. I told Tony this morning that I was thinking about doing this because they are so flippin' comfortable. Easy on the pocketbook too.

Adele's Rolling In The Deep. I love this.

I love trip advisor. I could be on that website all day. It has been very useful in planning our upcoming vacation in June.

The Royal Wedding !!!!!

What are some of your favorite things lately?

baby jail

She started on her back, and I went into her closet to put away her clothes. As she was talking and babbling up a storm, I look over and see this. She was as happy as could be.

5 Months Old!

Avery turns 5 months old!
So we celebrated with lunch at Bandana's BBQ and running some errands for the house. {pictures of projects are forthcoming}

Saturday, while Tony was at the Barnstormer Game with his Dad and some friends, Avery and I hung out in the craft room {guest room at Casa Bower} organizing fabric, photo's and doing some general washing and prep for some sewing projects I have on the docket.

I told Avery this weekend that she makes me a happy mommy. I know I have said this before, but we just can't get over how happy she is, and how much of an "easy baby" she is. We went out to lunch, to the fabric store, and to Menards to get some stuff for the house and yard, and it was a breeze to have her along. I am probably jinxing myself just saying this, but who knows what kind of toddler she will be, or what our next baby will be like?

Don and Linda gave Avery this very cute little stuffed giraffe. It is soft, cuddly, and plays music. She loves it.

She really does, but she was mad in this photo because she was ready for a bottle/nap combo. I thought it was cute.

Yesterday also marked her 5 month birthday! {see her milestone page for the updated pic and progress shot}. Next month we have a professional photographer booked for some 6 month and family photos. I am very excited about this. The photographer is so great at capturing life moments, and we love candid family photos as opposed to formal posed settings. It is much more relaxed and real to us. We can play with Avery and get some great moments captured for us. I will also get to be in the photos since I am normally the one taking them.

I am gearing up to tackle the next few weeks. I/we are going to be busy! Check back for updates...

My cup overflows...

The scene when I got up this morning to get ready to go into work.

I often wonder to myself how I got so lucky. Many times I feel like I don't deserve such a great husband. He is my best friend, my favorite person to be around, a fantastic father. We have been blessed with a healthy, happy baby girl, Avery. What did I do to be a part of their lives? I have a great relationship with my family, a fun circle of good friends, I have a good job, and a beautiful home. Sometimes I wonder, is this really my life? Again, how did I get so lucky?
