Bruce Lee inspired room {for Mike}

My brother Mike requested a Bruce Lee inspired room for him to live in. I hope he likes it.

Last weekend, Don and Linda graciously invited us to Adventureland for a family outing sponsored by Don's office. It is an annual event that is usually held the 4th weekend in July. The same weekend as Survival Days, and why we have not been able to attend, until this year.

I had to work {boo}, but Tony took Avery over for the lunch portion for a while. He brought her home for a nap, and to wait for me to go back over {thankfully, a short drive} again in the late afternoon.

This was my first time there, even though we lived a stone's throw away for 5 years. Yes, we lived so close, you could hear the kids screaming on the roller coasters, but I had never been. Let me tell ya, I had fun! So did Avery and Tony, and the rest of the kids. We went on rides, we got some snacks, Don got the kids little stuffed animals {Avery still won't put her duck down, she loves it!}, and we had a blast! I didn't get too many pictures, because we were too busy having fun, but I will try to get copies from Linda {please!} to post on here as well.

Room Makeover

I am in the mood for a room makeover. I whipped up a mood board that shows what we are working with. The room is currently a disaster with cords, electronics, and paperwork all strewn about. Hopefully this will get my butt in gear to start working on it. Before and After pictures may be forthcoming.

Wanna join sporty spice here for some tennis?

I found this cute little Puma jumpsuit at my favorite place: TJ Maxx. It was $4, I couldn't not get it. Once it was on, I knew I had to put the headband on her, and then we had a quick little impromptu photo shoot. {she is going to hate me when she is older}

Thursday Favorite Things -- El Azteca & Margaritas!

The Texas Margarita at El Azteca  in Ankeny {3 locations: 2 in Ames, and 1 in Ankeny} I love El Azteca. They are always friendly, always tell us how cute Avery is, she loves the spanish rice, and the food is delish. Oh, and a dinner out for 2, with a few drinks, comes in at $25. You can't go wrong!

Jose Cuervo Light Margaritas! {sensing a theme here?} Finally, a tasty margarita that doesn't equal the calories in your mexican meal.

Last night we took Avery to her first baseball game. We braved the sweltering heat, found a good spot in the bleachers, and had a ball. As per usual, Avery did great. There were tons of people at the game, so she had plenty to look at.

There were some very kind people behind us that had some grandkids Avery's age. They were playing with her and she was kind of showing off for them too.

We stayed for about half the game. Several people from Tony's office were also there, so we stopped by to say hello for a few minutes before heading out. It ended up being a pretty nice night, and we had a good breeze where we were sitting.

As you can see, we put Avery's I-Cubs hat on her. Her aunt Lori gave it to her, since she works for the I-Cubs. She had fun playing with it. If Tony or I wear a hat, she is mesmerized, and must play with it. We don't say no, as Avery runs the crew, and can get pretty gangsta if necessary.

She also wears some pretty bad-ass hair pins.

Once she starts crawling, which we expect to be any minute now as close as she is, watch out.

You are getting so big. You are absolutely infatuated with puppy. You look for him when he is not around, and keep your eyes on him when he is. You reach out to pet him, and you let him lick you in the face.

You came to work with mommy when your daycare was closed. You were a perfect angel, and had everyone in love with you. I think I may have sold some jobs strictly because you helped. The customers loved it when you waved at them, and you made me have the best day at work ever.

You make me laugh with your funny faces and sounds. You are now obsessed with the remote controls.

You are getting so big, you are pulling your self up. It's true, I caught you. So now we lowered the bed on the pack and play so you don't hurt yourself with the fun stuff on the bookshelves.

You are also outgrowing some of your 6-9 month clothing. I can't even think about this. When you were born, I would look at the 9 month clothing, and it was huge! Now you are outgrowing it. You are getting so big, and we love it, and how fun you are, and getting more fun everyday!

We love you!

Weekend Recap

Hello Casa Bower Friends,
We hope you had a great 4th of July weekend! We did. This time of year is always a fun time as it is my mom's birthday {she is a firecracker baby}, and my brother Ryan's {July 3} as well. We traveled north to my parents home to celebrate, and relax with family. It was just what we needed. We had been crazy busy the last month, and a relaxing weekend was much needed.

My parents have recently put a pool in, and we made good use of it. There is already talk of a larger one in the near future, they love it so much. My brothers' girls sure do like it, and Avery had fun splashing in it too. Tony and I floated, got some color, and very much enjoyed ourselves.

On Monday July 4th, it was the most beautiful day. Just a slight breeze, not a cloud in the sky, 85 degrees. Perfect. We decided to spend some more time by the pool before we headed back home, and I am sure glad we did.

 There are few places I love more than my parents place in the summer. Everything is so green, quiet, peaceful. I really love it. How could you not?

 While Tony and Avery took a little nap, I kicked back on the hammock.

What did everyone else do for the holiday weekend?
