Rub a dub dub - Avery in the tub

Avery loves bath time.

She likes to help set up and stand at the tub with a big grin as we get the water temp set and her toys all ready.

Grandma's Chair

Avery is starting to look more and more like her mama. Here is a picture of me as a little girl, about 18 months old. My uncle took the photo as part of a photography class in college. It hangs in the hallway of my parents house.

My mom still has this chair. It was hers as a child, and then mine as a child. Her granddaughters use it today. Someday it will be Avery's.

{Someday would have been this weekend, but my dad won't let me take it until there are no more grandchildren}

Here is a photo of Avery in it this weekend.

In other news: We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. We spent it eating, laughing with family and friends, eating, and watching football.

We had some tentative plans to go Black Friday shopping, but we saw the lines outside Target and Best Buy on Thursday night around 8:45 and quickly changed our minds...we didn't lose our minds.

How 'Bout them Cyclones!?

O.M.F.G {yeah, I just said it}

It was pandemonium at Casa Bower on Friday night. Our beloved Cyclones beat the #2 ranked FB team in the land, the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

We had free tickets and a parking pass to the game, but we didn't go.

Yes...we passed up tickets to the greatest game in Cyclone history. We are going to subscribe to the BUTTERFLY EFFECT theory, and believe that us staying home was a factor in the win. {just go with it}

OK State missed a FG

We had a few friends over, Avery was able to watch the first quarter, and we had a great time.

If you are Facebook friends with me, or follow me on Twitter, you know that I had a funny feeling all week that we were going to win. I should have listed to my gut and had my co-worker, Jenna, who is in Vegas, place a bet for me. Oh well. I do think that we get one more win out of the last two games left. {Don't blame me though if you do place a bet, and that doesn't pan out. }

Also: This man deserves a raise!

Happy Birthday Avery!

Happy first birthday to our girl. We love you more than we can put into words.

This morning as we were getting ready to leave for the day, Tony said, "It's been quite a year", and followed it up with a yawn. Avery smiled and giggled.

That pretty much sums up our first year as parents... yawns and giggles.

 I wouldn't have it any other way.

Deer Slumber Party

We have deer living in our backyard. Remember THIS POST?

Over the last couple of weeks, we have had a few instances where we let Amigo out to relieve himself, and he races off to chase deer that are across the street. We usually peek out to make sure the coast is clear, but we don't always see them.

Last night, I was up with Avery, rocking her back to sleep. As I looked out the window in the hall on my way back to bed, I saw the deer across the street again. They were snacking on the smashed pumpkins the neighbors left in the empty lot, and wandered over to their yard.

As I made my way back to bed, I thought about what Tony mentioned when he got home last night. He saw the deer a block behind our house in the front yard of our backyard neighbors. {follow that?} I peaked out to our backyard and saw 3 deer all curled up in the middle of our yard.

Most of our neighborhood has fenced in yards, and the path the deer take from the creek, a few blocks away, to the fields on the other side of us, is through our yard.  We have seen "evidence"  {droppings} of them spending time in our yard.

For some reason, I was intent on watching them last night. As I crawled back into bed {2 am}, Tony turned over and looked at me. I must have thought he was awake, so I told him how a family of deer was living in our backyard. He was all "uh-huh" and went back to sleep.

When I mentioned them again this morning, he informed me that he was well aware of them spending time in our yard, as he cleans up the yard. I was also told that unless they were spending time in our kitchen, not to wake him up at 2 am with news they were in the backyard.

I guess that means that he also doesn't want me and Avery to leave them some snacks tonight!?!

Party Time!

We had a little party for Avery on Saturday. She turns one on Thursday, and we got together with friends and family to celebrate.

Party Decor.

Avery had a great time, and we really enjoyed spending the day with family and friends.

Avery is a lucky little girl, she was gifted a lot of fun toys, books, and cute clothes. She had some help opening her presents from her cousins.

Avery was very excited about her toys.

We also had a cake for Avery to stuff her face with.  Smash Cake!

Happy Family

The girls were told to say "Justin Beiber" when smiling. They have the "Beiber Fever!"

Playing with her new toys.

Uh-Oh

This is Avery's favorite new phrase. She says it if she drops something, or when we are playing. She says it when I am changing her diaper, which cracks me up.

She has also taken to pointing at things. She is thisclose to asking "what's that?"

She has her own little language that Tony and I are starting to become fluent it. We both work on saying a word in context, like saying "UP" when she is wanting to be picked up. Or when she points at something, we say what it is a few times.

We also play "SO BIG". We ask her "How big is Avery?", and she throws her little arms up as far as she can reach, with a big toothy grin. Melt your heart.

Something else that also melts my heart is when she plays with her dolls. She holds them up, looks at them, says something in Averyspeak, and then kisses them. Her version of a kiss is coming at you with an open mouth. She then hugs her dolls tight. Melt. Your. Heart.

It's little things like this that make me think of my own mom. She has often said, "just you wait" and now I know what she meant. We have the best relationship, and I so hope that one day Avery and I will be as close.

Here are more pictures from our weekend in MN. While mom and I browsed shoes at the Naturalizer outlet, Avery wanted to crawl under the racks.

This makes me laugh

TP, Boots, and a Party

Avery wanted to help write this post.

Avery is getting big, and she is such a good little eater. She was a fan of that goulash that I made around Halloween.

Finger licken' good!

She also got some new boots, she is pretty fond of them. They make her look like such a little girl. I am still not ready for it. She is so stinkin' fun though. She just plays, and plays.

I was off work last Friday and was trying to catch up on some housework. Avery wanted to help. She found a loose roll of TP as I was doing laundry. I turned around and she had made quite the party with it. I did what any good parent would...and I ran to grab the camera.

She looks tired here. It was right before nap time.

Avery and I also went to Minnesota last weekend to see the family. It was GG's {my grandma, Avery's Great Grandma, we have the babies call her GG or GGma} birthday.

Here is Chris, AJ, their little guy Reeve, and my cousin Sami holding Avery.

My grandma and grandpa.

Tony was stuck at the house working all weekend. He finally got all his deadlines met, and can be back to a normal work schedule. It was nice to see he was home when we got in tonight.

Avery discovered that she can pull out all the tupperware and get into the cabinet. I didn't get the pictures, but Tony did on his phone. I will have to transfer them and post. Too cute.
