More Changes

We altered another kids bedroom this weekend.

And...After the slight switch-a-roo.

The gallery wall above the crib is still a work in progress...

Papa Steve

As I had mentioned, my dad's birthday was the other reason we went to MN last weekend. This was his birthday cake.

That "burger" was a rice krispie treat.

All cuddled up with 2 of his 5 granddaughters.

This little man is a climber too! We had to take the chair away from him because he was having too much fun climbing up on it and grinning like he got away with something.

Avery and Lexi. Thing 1 and Thing 2.

It was a fun weekend!

Holiday Inn Serengeti Water Park and Party

We spent last weekend in Minnesota for a good combination of reasons. It was my dad's birthday, and we were celebrating my extended family Christmas on my mom's side. We decided to go to the local hotel with an indoor water park for the afternoon.

My cousin set it all up with table reservations, and our food catered in. All we had to do was show up, get our swimming suits on, and play. We took a break to snack on pizza, cupcakes, and some pop and lemonade. Avery had about the best time of her life that day.

She got to play in the water, and we took her down the water slide with us on a tube. We went again, and again, and again. At one point, I got on the tube, she climbed on my lap, put her arms up and exclaimed "Let's Ride!"

The place is really fun. There is a zero entry area that we had Gavin in to splash around, there is a small slide for the little kids, a lazy river, a pool with a basketball hoop, and 2 large water slides.

The day wore Gavin out, and made my mom very happy with his sleepy baby snuggles.

This was a great way to beat the everlasting snow and winter, and I would absolutely do this again. Mom even commented she wishes she would have brought her suit, since we were having so much fun.

Aarrrggghhhh you going to be my Valentine?

Avery and Gavin had a little Valentine's Day party at their daycare on Friday. We went to the store Wednesday night to get some candy and supplies to make valentines for their friends at daycare.

We found pirate pencils, pirate erasers, and pirate stickers. We chose Swedish Fish candy to go in too. Obviously.

I quickly found a free vintage pirate online and added our own little phrase to make it more valentine specific.

We then used these cute little bags I had on hand and punched holes in  and  secured with black pipe cleaners. It pays to have craft supplies on hand I tell ya!

And here are some photos of the kids at the party:

Heartbreaker indeed!

Birchbox :: Benefit Eye Cream It's Potent!

Sometime in the middle of last year, I signed up for BIRCHBOX. It is a monthly subscription for $10 and we get samples of beauty products. I filled out a form on my skin type, hair color, and what I was interested in. They then send you lifestyle and beauty products to try.

The perfume I bought after receiving a sample last month. I LOVE IT!

It is a little treat to myself each month. When we see it in the mailbox, Avery and I get pretty excited to open it up and see what little beauty treats we get. I always share with her.

This month was a pretty good box.

  • Serge Normant Dry Conditioner
  • Juicy Couture Malibu perfume sample
  • W3ll People Universal Color sample
  • Benefit Big Easy tinted face cream
  • Benefit Eye Cream

I tried this for the first time this morning. Gavin was teething, or hungry, or upset, but whatever he was, he was not sleeping last night, so I had some eye baggage this morning. I can report that this stuff is the It worked right away, and I couldn't see the dark circles nearly as much, and I didn't look nearly as tired as I felt.

Now I love a good eye cream, and have been using some for a few years now. This is tops in my opinion, after 1 use. I will see how I like it after a few uses, but this moved to the top of my eye cream samples.

Well done Birchbox... well done.

Note: If you would like to try Birchbox, go ahead and use my name as a reference and we can both get extra points to use toward product purchases! Just click on this link and sign up!

First off, how cute are our kids?! I know, I know, every mom says this, but come on! They are adorable. We took our time getting out of the house earlier this week after a snow storm dropped 5-6" of snow on us, so Avery took it upon herself to entertain Gavin. In his crib. Gavin still looks sleepy.

Then as we were playing that night on the floor and the kids were climbing all over us, I kept looking at our furniture and got the itch to re-arrange. Tony said, go for it...meaning "you are on your own"

So I did! I had an idea and wanted to see if I liked it.

As I moved the couch I found copious amounts of dog hair and this:

So it turned into a bit of a cleaning session too.

I am still getting used to it, and I am not sure how long it will stay like this, but for now it is working.
Tony told me last night that Avery would freak out when she saw it. Our baby is a creature of habit. Sure enough, when she came downstairs this morning, she stopped dead in her tracks and said "Hey! What happened here?" She quickly got over it when she identified where the toy box/ottoman moved to.

The room does feel larger, but then again, it always does when all the toys are picked up.

Since we moved the recliner down from the nursery, we tend to sit in them more so than the couch. We are not really loving the comfort level of the couch anymore, but then again, it is from when we had the townhouse and needed furniture for the basement. We are hoping it lasts until the kids are a bit bigger {ie: not as messy} and then we might look at a new, more comfy, differently shaped, couch.

and again in the morning light...

Working Lately

Here are a few things that I have been working on lately in my professional life.

Staging model homes.

Drooling over the painted cabinets at my cabinet suppliers showroom. I might need to incorporate these into a home soon.

Overseeing the tile design in an owners shower.

Pretty pendants. Lucky homeowners.

This house in the photos below started as a semi-custom. I loved the floor plan, so I "adopted" it as my own. I selected all the finishes as if I were moving in {I wish!}, but then it sold, which is a great thing. I am loving how it is coming together.

The view from one of the houses. So pretty this time of long as you stay tucked inside!
