Our Weekend.

Hello! It's been a long time since I have updated the 'ol blog.

We had a great day last Saturday. We played inside and out, we went to the park, we took naps, and we cooked dinner over the firepit. The kids were in great moods, and everyone was having the best time.

We even found the stash of sparklers from this summer.

Sunday, Avery and I were in a cleaning mood, and I decided to tackle the front closet that we keep some of the kids toys in, our wrapping paper in, and my sewing machine in for the time being. Our basement is still under construction, so we have a bit of a mess with stuff and storage totes everywhere.

Much Better! I feel like I can breathe again when I open the door. It was getting out of hand, fast.

Gavin is still obsessed with trains.

Avery is into doing cheer routines while we watch the Iowa State football games. She is more entertaining than the team is sometimes. We are taking her to the game this weekend, and I hope she enjoys it!

Gavin is really starting to talk now. Lots of "Mom {or Dad}, watch this!" as he jumps off of something. He now calls out "Mom, where are you?" and I melt each time. Little boys man, they are so...sweet, but exhausting, but sweet, but tiring. All in the best way possible.

Basement Progress: Doors, baseboards, and casing has been delivered. Cabinets show up tomorrow, and hopefully a trim crew in a week or so to install and set it all.

4th of July Weekend!

We went to Minnesota to my parents place for the fourth of July weekend. We do this almost every year, since my brother's birthday is 7/3, and my mom's is 7/4. It's a good time to get together around the pool, camp out, have a bonfire, and spend time with each other. I don't get to see them as often as I like, and the kids love spending time with their cousins.

really, they do. Gavin is so funny with Beah. She is all Laue, and all up in your face and loving on everyone, and Gavin is all Bower, and much more reserved and likes his space.

The tire swing is always a big hit with the kids.

Grandma has been making Avery and the girls clothes all summer. This one is too adorable!

We tried to set up a game using pool noodles, but it quickly turned into fighting with pool noodles.

a nice bonfire, capped with a movie on the fence.

Sweet Summertime!

It's been a while. Summer is in full swing around here, and it's keeping us busy. We have been playing hard and working hard.

We went to Florida at the end of May with Tony's parents to do Disney and vacation at their time share.

The kids took right back up with swimming. They love the water. Our little waterbabies.

This was one of my favorite rides. The fact that it was one of the shortest rides had nothing to do with that either!

We arranged to have dinner with Cinderella and her friends one night.

Spending some time in the UK at Epcot. Closest I may ever get.

Hope the summer is as sweet for all of you, as it has been so far for us. Cheers!

Mini Girls Weekend and Sleepover!

Hello there! We had quite the weekend, and I am still catching up from it. Avery and Gavin have 4 cousins from Minnesota that we do not get to see nearly enough. So we decided to invite them all down for a weekend of fun and have a sleepover. It did not disappoint.

Avery and Lexi with their babies.

We made little gift baskets for everyone to use throughout the weekend:

We went to the  SCIENCE CENTER OF IOWA on Saturday for an event they had called
  • Every Family Rocks! Family Music & Movement Festival.

  • There was live music, programs, activity stations, swag bags, and superhero sightings. It was all in addition to the wonderful kids section they have on the regular. I am so glad we took the kids. They loved it and confirmed to me that we should take the kids there more often.

Gavin loved the cave display.

The kids got to touch a snake and turtle in the Cold Blooded Critters seminar.

Super Hero Sighting!
Avery very seriously asked what happens if they have an emergency and had to go save someone.

Face Painting!

Practicing Spinning Plates.
Gavin and I were already in the car so he could catch a nap.

This place was so cool!

After this we headed home for lunch and naps.

In their gift baskets, I had found mugs that you can color on paper inside, to create a personalized drawing. It was from Dollar Tree, and the girls loved it.

Us adults got wine sippy glasses.
And Advil.

The girls got quite loud at times.

Gavin and Beah did not.

We then decided that making our own pizza's was too much work and ordered Casey's. It's always a good choice.

Followed by a few dance routines the girls put on:

This was followed by Pitch Perfect, popcorn and ice cream.

We all took a good long nap on Sunday to recover :)
